The fourth meeting of the FSC International Generic Indicator (IGI) Group took place in Lisbon, Portugal, in October, to plan the final steps for the development of the second draft IGI. The previous meeting of the group, which took place in Madrid in June, resulted in an agreed methodology to consider the feedback received during the first public consultation of the first draft IGI. This methodology was applied during the period in between meetings, and the group is now working hard to finalize the second draft IGI.
After analyzing the feedback received during the first consultation, the IGI Group came up with a process to systematically respond to this feedback. Some of the immediate measures taken include simplifying the language used and reducing the number of indicators wherever possible (e.g. redundancies, duplications, etc.). The group is also reviewing the indicators with a performance focus to reduce the burden on the system imposed by process type indicators.
The group has been divided in sub-groups in order to more efficiently continue applying this methodology, with the aim to finish the second draft soon.
At the same time, an 'Engagement Package' is being produced to improve the communications and support the parties participating in the process.
